Welcome to Summit Northwest Ministries
Amy Heald - Youth Pastor Caleb Foss - Young Adults and Service Ministries Pastor Ron Hessel - Senior Pastor Barb Hessel - Administrator This last month brought some bittersweet moments to our congregation. We welcomed Amy & Geoff's new baby, but we also bid farewell to Amy as our Youth and Children's Ministries' Pastor. What a blessing they have all been to our congregation. Fortunately they are not leaving so we won't have to say good bye, but we'll miss them just the same.
When Barb and I came on staff a little over five years ago our church was just starting out. We had a couple of adult classes and one kid's class. If you remember we had fun watching Kidmo Videos with our kids. They were inspiring and definitely engaging for most, but as is the case with any one product, one size doesn't fit all. As we slowly began to grow it became apparent that we needed to make some changes. Amy was hired as our Youth and Children's Ministries' Pastor. Her enthusiasm was and has been contagious and inspiring. Soon we had a Youth Department and then it grew to the point where we needed to have a Junior High ministry as well as a Senior Youth ministry.
The Children's program began to grow, too. From one class it developed into two classes with several age appropriate splits within that. Then we moved out to the Newman Lake site and things really started to pop. We added a nursery class and had four other classes for preschool through senior high. But it didn't stop there. Under Amy's development the classes grew and we had to split down several more and we are about to split off another class soon. We have outgrown our facility and still our classes seem to be full and expanding.
Amy's leadership through this expansion has been invaluable. Additionally we have grown to love and respect Amy as a very gifted communicator. Her sermons have never failed to inspire, engage and challenge us. So, as I said, we will miss having Amy in her role as a leader, but we are blessed to have her stick around in the role of a friend ... a very good friend.
Congratulations, Pastor Amy and Geoff on the new addition to your family. Thanks for being such an important part of our congregation!! You are loved. |
