Our Purpose
To share our loving God with hurting people so they may experience His transforming power in their lives.
We will do this by:
- Discipleship. Building intentional relationships that lead to discipleship
- Nurture. Nurturing relationships through regular contact and encouragement
- Service. Actively helping our neighbors meet their emotional, physical, and spiritual needs
- Evangelism. Introducing people to Jesus Christ
- Worship. Pointing to Jesus through biblically-based worship
What We Believe
Summit Northwest Ministries is a Seventh-day Adventist community of faith. Having the Bible as our only creed and Grace as our only means of salvation, we are guided by the following tenets of faith:
- We believe that there is one God: Father, Son and Holy Spirit. These three, who are co-equal and co-eternal, are the Creator, Source, Sustainer, and Ruler of the whole universe.
- We believe salvation is received by grace alone, through faith in Jesus Christ.
- We believe Christians, those who accept the gift of grace, respond by committing to a life of discipleship in Christ and loving service to others.
- We believe the Bible is the enduring and inspired Word of God that faithfully shows us the way of salvation.
- We believe the seventh day of the week was set aside at creation as holy time and continues to be a time to focus on worship, communion with God, relationships, and service.
- We believe that God, who is the owner of all, entrusts us with His resources to be used by the giving of our time, talents, and treasure to Him and to others.
- We believe in the literal second coming of Jesus Christ and the promise of eternal reunion with Him upon His return.
Our History
In 2004, a small group of committed Christians desired something different. Not satisfied with “doing church” as they had always done it, they started something new with only a few friends, a little equipment, and a vision.
The vision was to create a church where love and acceptance would prevail. To build a community where those who were hurting, confused, depressed, or disenfranchised could find hope, encouragment, and the assurance of salvation from a loving God.
When Summit Northwest Ministries was founded, we met in storefronts at Post Falls Outlet Mall. Two storefronts quickly became three and soon our growth meant moving to a rented church facility on the Rathdrum Prairie. It wasn’t long before we outgrew that venue as well, and we began planning for our own facility. It was then that we discovered the opportunity to purchase the Post Falls Cinema building and turn it into an ideal facility for ministry and worship.
We began our services there when the first phase of renovation was completed in November 2013. Within the first few years, attendance doubled in size. In 2017 we completed phase two of our renovation, expanding our worship center and making other improvements. Through it all, our purpose has remained consistent: “To share our loving God with hurting people so that they can experience His transforming power in their lives.”
